Glasgow at Christmas

Glasgow turns from a bit of a rough diamond to something quite sparkly and elaborate at Christmastime. Lights are draped from nearly every imaginable surface and there is a bit of an electric buzz up and down Buchanan Street. 

Or maybe that's just the massive curtain of lights draped in front of House of Fraser. 

While the Christmas Market in Edinburgh is centered about clothing and Christmas decor, the Glasgow market is food focused, mainly. There were stalls with fudge, olives, breads, hot drinks, and more! 

Merry-go-rounds are popular at Christmas markets, apparently. 

I absolutely loved the Christmas pyramid in the centre all lit up! 

And another pyramid... We also meandered about Princes Square which was wonderfully decorated as always.

Glasgow really is a lovely city and at Christmas it is fun to meander about and marvel at the lights and ingenuity of decor that is on display. As this is our second year, I'm really able to get out a bit more and soak up some of what the city has to offer! This year, we're hoping to go see a short version of the Messiah at Bute Hall on the University of Glasgow campus. We're going to go back to Buchanan Street to do some more Christmas shopping, of course. Additionally, I have found this to be a pretty handy resource for all things Christmas in Glasgow. Just ten days left until Christmas! :)
