Best Coffee Shops in Greenville, SC

I don't drink coffee anymore, but Aaron most certainly does. We go through bags of coffee at a crazy rate. We start every drive out at the nearest Starbucks. Our evenings out often include a visit to a nearby coffee shop. Fortunately, Greenville has many coffee shops that are worth visiting time and time again. (And fortunately for me, these coffee shops have good tea!)

One of my favorite coffee shops in downtown Greenville is Port City Java. Port City is a small chain of coffee shops in the Carolinas, but this particular store frequently displays artwork from local artists alongside beautiful arrangements of flowers. My favorite drink there is a hot, dirty chai (chai tea latte with a shot of espresso) although I frequently get one of their fruit smoothies. Aaron likes most of the coffee specials for the day (usually listed on a board above the counter). If you ever need something to really wake you up, I recommend the red-eye. I lived on those when I was working downtown and they really pack a punch.

Another favorite of ours is Due South Coffee, located in an old mill in Taylors. The room is open and airy with eclectic light fixtures dangling over the counter. If you ask for a cold drink, you'll probably get it in a mason jar. Frequently, they have live music or food specials (which often include food trucks.) If you like their coffee, you can get a bag of it there, freshly roasted and ready to go. They also do monthly seasonal drinks that are very tasty! (The one below was a spicy hot Christmas drink!)

Unlike the previous mentions, this isn't a mere coffee shop, but Tandem in Traveler's Rest is an absolutely fantastic creperie. Order a crepe and couple it with a coffee (or tea)!  The creperie is beautifully designed, both inside and out. (If you're going on a Saturday, get there early! It gets busy fast!) As a tea drinker, I appreciate the simple glass teapots. They are aesthetically beautiful and keep your tea piping hot! Order a specialty coffee and you'll be given a beautifully styled and tasty drink.

Lastly, my new favorite coffee shop is Methodical Coffee, located conveniently downtown near Anthropologie. What's not to like!? The room itself is bright and airy. There is a simple menu behind the bar and a black and gold wall covered in wallpaper adorns one side. The drinks are served on classic blue and white china. I ordered a hot tea last time I was there and it was very tasty, as they use loose leaf tea which really adds to the flavor! Aaron ordered some strong coffee and thought it superb. This is a coffee shop we keep returning to, because the space is inviting and the beverages are great!

There are so many more coffee shops in Greenville, but these are easily our favorites. We're both looking forward to trying out many more coffee shops once we land in Glasgow!
