Arran
Since we’re planning on heading back to Arran this weekend, it felt appropriate that I get caught up on our last trip there.
When we went to Arran two years ago, we drove into Brodick from the ferry and immediately cut across the island and stayed north. We saw the standing stones in Machrie Moor, the castle in Lochranza, and ate supper in the distillery.
This time though, we headed south to Whiting Bay. Located just south of the Holy Isle, Whiting Bay is the 3rd largest village on the island and home to a prehistoric burial site, Iron Age fort, and just north is a Viking Fort. It’s a picturesque town, right on the water, with few houses and even fewer roads. The perfect place for an escape from the mainland.
We hiked, we saw waterfalls, seals, glorious sunsets over the water, and lots of animals.
