Something a Little Different

Grand Tetons National Park

If you've visited our flat or our old American apartment, you probably would notice a number of paintings on the walls (some hung haphazardly and all frequently rotated from spot to spot).

I've always enjoyed art and various aspects of it. I minored in art in college and took some classes I loved - drawing, painting, and ceramics, and some classes I didn't love as much - 3D art, I'm looking at you... After our trip to Wyoming last fall, I was inspired by the work I saw in the National Museum of Wildlife Art, particularly the pieces by Carl Rungius and Robert Bateman. Upon my return home, I pulled out my old oils and brushes, bought a few canvas and began painting. Later in the summer, calligraphy caught my eye and I began experimenting with that as well.

I'm not saying my art is that good, but if I keep painting and sketching as often as I am currently, we're probably going to run out of space (and Aaron will be forced to upgrade us to a larger flat sooner than we'd like). I see improvements in my works, but I have a long ways to go. All that to say, I've opened an Etsy shop, and I'm going to try to keep listing different works in there. So go and check it out. :) I currently have an assortment of cards and paintings and eventually hope to get some of my knitting projects in there as well.
