Weekend recap (and lots of food pictures)

We're counting down- five more weekends here stateside. My hope is that they are all as grand as this past weekend was! (With the exception of a cat chewing my computer charging cord. That part wasn't so great.)

Friday, we drove up to North Carolina and tubed down Davidson River. The water was cold and not as deep as I was expecting but it was a total blast. Keeping my fingers crossed that we can do it again before we leave! We rented tubes from Davidson River Rafting, which is conveniently located next to Dolly's Dairy Bar. Dolly's has fantastic ice cream (as evidenced by the line of people in front of the building). Then the guys played a game of disc golf and we ladies trailed behind them, eating blackberries. Came home absolutely exhausted and tired, but had such a blast.

Saturday was Aaron's birthday so I made him a cheesecake and we celebrated with his family. I always have such a blast with him and I throughly enjoy spoiling him on his birthday (although I can't keep a secret from him so he usually knows his gifts before he gets them!)

One of the many awesome things about living in Greenville, South Carolina is the food, which can be quite superb. Aaron chose to eat at Sully's Steamers which is known for their excellent bagel sandwiches. I generally chose the Californian but Steamenstein is excellent as well. On Sunday we decided to continue the celebrations and eat at the Trappe Door which is one of our favorites. This was our first time eating there for lunch and it did not disappoint.

This was the Westmalle burger and it was delicious. My favorite dipping butter is the truffle butter, but the garlic is an excellent second best. Sadly, we were too full to eat gelato at Luna Rosa next door but if you're ever downtown, I highly recommend their gelato for a tasty dessert. :)
